eWhoring is the art of being an fake online female whore for the sole purpose of making money. eWhoring is usually done by guys who trick other horny men into thinking that they are hot beautiful women (fake profiles) who want to talk to them. The conversation between the trickster and the horny guy always ends up in some kind of money transaction online.
Joe is a guy in his 20’s who is obsessed with the online world of chatting with random women online. He feels lonely. He visits these websites that offer chat service on a regular basis in the hope of finding some kind of female companionship and contact. One day he receives a notification that a girl has messaged him on a chatting website. A shimmer of hope. Finally. He starts talking with her daily thus forming a bond with her not to mention how hot she is. She sends him nudes and other revealing pictures taken on her iPhone. The part of the brain that thinks logically totally switches off for Joe. He asks her if she would like to video chat with her. She says ok but to protect her privacy he needs to sign up on a webcam service website and sends him the affiliate link. When Joe signs up, the trickster earns money by commission.
There are millions of people like Joe around the globe which provides scammers ample of opportunities. We need to keep in mind that scammers don’t need all the people to get fooled by their trickery they only need 5% of the people to go through the process which makes it easier for them.
Lets discuss various ways in which eWhoring is done in 2016
Fake Facebook Profiles
Facebook has the most number of fake profiles than any other social network and for good reason. In a study, it was found that people are 80% more inclined to reply to the messages and posts of females than males. Due to such staggering ratio eWhoring is pretty common on Facebook. But the eWhoring done on this platform doesn’t really boil down to getting money from horny men. It is of various types.
It ranges from fake profiles asking men to get their phones recharged with money to people taking advantage of the fact that people are more inclined to click on their links if they are females, by posting on groups from their fake profiles, to direct traffic to their website or fund their kickstarter campaign.
To those who don’t know omegle is a platform where two strangers can talk to each other. This makes it a perfect hub for scammers to pull a fast one and eWhore people. They follow a strategy in which they redirect the the person to an affiliate webcam adult website where if the person signs up, the scammer gets a commission. The scammers use simulated webcams ( instead of live webcams it’s actually a recording of a girl talking on webcam) to video talk to the person. then in chat they ask the victim to visit these adult cam websites in the pretext of dirty talking and having online sex.
You must be thinking that scammers are doing a lot of work by chatting with guys all day and convincing them to signup for stuff. But that is actually not the case. Scammers use bots to do their ewhoring work. Bots are basically scripts and codes that choose victims automatically and then chat with the victims ( chatbots)
A brilliant example of eWhoring using bots on tinder was done by the marketing team of the movie Ex Machina. They created a bot called ‘Ava’ which talked to random men on tinder and asked them these 3 questions one by one.
Have you ever been in love? What makes you human? What attracts you to me?
Then it showed the link to the Instagram account where there was a video which showed ‘Ava’ was actually an actress that was starring in the movie.
These are some ways in which scammers use e whoring to earn money and many times businesses use as a marketing strategy to gain more traction. Fake Facebook profiles, omegle, chatrooms and bots are some of the equipment that are used in this strategy. Henry David Thoreau said “That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest” Well not in this case sir.
